6 Word Memoir

Eating and sleeping, what else matters?

At first I was I just wrote this down as a joke to show my friends but the more I thought about it, the more sense it made to me. When you really think about it the only real necessities in life are eating and sleeping, everything else is not permanent. I realize that this may seem as if I'm some really lazy procrastinator, but i don't mean for it to sound that way. To me it is much deeper than just being a lazy person- which I am by the way. Life is long and most of the things that we worry about, the people we meet, and the things we do, pass in time. The only real necessities include eating and sleeping. This though just helped me put into perspective some of my problems. In a couple of weeks school will be over and most of the problems that I have to deal with right now will move to the past and be removed from my mind forever. As teenagers all of us tend to exaggerate our problems and make it sound as if they are the difference between life and death, even though in a couple of days these problems will not ever be dealt with again. Eating and sleeping are the two constants in life, everything else is variable and is what we make of it.

  1. Obviously, this is just a matter of perspective. I too think that we, as in teenagers, tend to blow things out of proportion. At the same time, I disagree with eating and sleeping being the only two things in life that matter. That might have to do with the fact that I am incredibly driven, but what would the purpose of life be if we only slept and ate? There are much greater things in life than this, at least for me.

  2. I feel the same way as Simon. Eating and sleeping are definitely the main necessities of life but however, I also feel that without other components such as love and happiness, living wouldn't be really living.

  3. Nice Jehan hahah. I like it! It's true all that really matters is the necessities in life like eating and sleeping, everything else comes and goes. :)

  4. Although everything else comes and goes, constants are factors that are a part of basic humanity. As such, to only limit oneself to the necesities of human life is to deny any development of personal or human nature that gives meaning, value, and worth to one's life. Without the complexities of faith, struggle, and personal growth, one is bound to simplicity and a stunted human nature, never to self actualize in potential,

  5. Even though eating and sleeping are the main things...there are many other aspects to life that contribute to living a good life...you make major points but you can also look at other necessities to be as important..but that's my opinion...I think its a good idea for your 6 word memoir though!

  6. This is a really good point that you made. Eating and sleeping are very important aspects of life along with other things especially amongst our teenage years.

  7. I love your six word memoir, and I absolutely agree! What else matters?
However, a life without any companion or other pleasures sounds too boring since I believe we are more than just animals who live to survive.

  8. Haha oh Jehan you would post this. I do agree though but we have to make sure we eat to live and not so much live to eat, especially with America's reputation. Can't wait to gain that Freshman 15 in college. Nice work Jehan.

  9. I agree with Simon the schmuck; however, I do see your point. Our problems are rather miniscule compared to many around the globe and it is time toi focus on bigger things. Buuut there is much more to life than eating and sleeping. Let's go to In-N-Out!!
